Housing Initiative Partnership, Inc.
Situation
Summary background of the organization
HIP has two main initiatives: to provide housing and education/counseling for low-income people and artists, as well as purchasing and rehabbing properties to make them livable.
Obstacles
The communication challenges faced
Like many small nonprofits, HIP is in constant need of financial support. On a regular basis, the organization is forced to choose between spending money on marketing themselves and program services. Program services win every time.
Solution
The steps and solution taken by the CreateAThon team
A brochure featuring an explanation of both sides of what they do was created. It informs in detail about the services, and includes actionable items for individuals to make donations. The design has a modern feel, which coincides with the group’s progressive and artistic personality. The imagery features the properties themselves as well as the people who live within them.
The consultant and client discussed obstacles to growth and sustainability, including timing of cash flow and resulting constraints. The consultant identified and recommended capitalizing on the unique strengths of the management and development team in developing marketing programs. She also recommended switching from more popular but less-effective marketing programs to simple, inexpensive and higher-frequency communications with donors and consumers. The team reviewed the strategic plan to identify potential problem areas and recommend more effective, proven solutions.
A note from our client
“We are thrilled to death! We will use this to attract donor and build new relationships with funders as well as clients.”
